Dr Shihani Elayakumar graduated from Oman Medical College in 2016 and completed her General Practice training in the United Kingdom, earning Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP) in 2022. After moving to Australia in 2024, she went on to achieve Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP) in 2025.

Dr Elayakumar is known for her holistic, patient‑centred approach. She takes the time to listen, understand, and work collaboratively with her patients, ensuring they feel heard, supported, and empowered. Her favourite part of being a GP is building long‑term relationships with individuals and families, helping them navigate health challenges while focusing on prevention, wellbeing, and quality of life.

Her special interests include women’s health, child and adolescent health, preventive health, and chronic disease management.

Outside of work, Dr Elayakumar enjoys long walks,reading novels, and being with her family. She also has a soft spot for animals especially cats and the magpies she grew fond of during her time in Australia.
